VIDEO: China's "Kingdom of Women"
A cool video from National Geographic on the matriarchal Mosuo culture of southwestern China, where women own property and determine family relationships. But this "so-called free-love society" is under threat from modernization.
To me, this is proof that not all modernization is good -- there are exceptions. These people have worked out an equitable and egalitarian culture that is much more progressive than the rest of China, or the United States for that matter.
