Dalai Lama Quote of the Week

An exalting task for all humankind

The West is fascinated by efficiency. And there is no doubt that in many areas its efficiency is quite admirable. That is why I would like to ask this question, which seems natural to me: why not apply this technical efficiency to protect all forms of life? This would be an exalting task for all humankind, especially as we seem to lack a truly large-scale project or ideal. It is difficult, yet it is absolutely necessary. If the question of human survival is not solved, there will be nobody left to solve the problem. And Buddhism can help here.
